Maruti to launch an all-new premium hatchback in India

We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki will launch three new products in India within two years, which includes a compact SUV, YL1 sedan (SX4 replacement) and an all-new compact hatch to replace A-Star and Estilo. The company will also introduce the facelifted version of the company's top selling hatch, Swift in 2014. It is not the end of story, a new premium hatchback is also in the pipeline, which will be launched by the end of 2015. Surprise!!!!

Carmakers like Honda and Hyundai seems to be getting aggressive with their strategies for the Indian car market, and are planning to launch several competitive products. While Honda will launch the all-new Jazz, new City, Mobilio MPV, Jazz based compact SUV and a sub 4 lakh car, Hyundai is also planning to launch the facelifted i20, a new compact sedan and SUV in India. To maintain the top position in terms of sales in the country, Maruti Suzuki will launch a completely new premium hatchback, which will sit above the Swift and Ritz, and will compete against the refurbished Jazz and 2014 i20.

Codenamed YRA, the new premium small car will be manufactured in India as well as in Hungary for the European market. According to the FE report- the vehicle is expected to be sold under an entirely new brand. Moreover, the Ritz hatch will also undergo a facelift in 2015.
