Maruti Suzuki India, the biggest name in the domestic auto sector, will not be delivering any of its cars to the dealers during the yearly maintenance in the manufacturing unit as it would be shutting down for a week. The Indian car makers have no inventory left because of high demand.
Maruti will close all the company's plants in Gurgaon and Manesar for a week long i.e., from 27th December to 3rd January. Usually, Maruti always keeps the stock for almost seven days to deliver the cars to its dealers but this time the story is little different owing to the high rise in demand. The plants have been closed two times in one year, earlier in June and now in December.
Shashank Srivastava, the Chief General Manager in Marketing in Maruti Suzuki India, he confirmed that, the company will be starting with the yearly maintenance shutdown by next week. In this time, the company's one week manufacturing will not be dispatched. As per the sources, the Indian auto giant may lose around 25,000 cars in this week long break and has no stock to be supplied to its dealers.
It is being learned that, Maruti always had inventory of 5 to 7 days, but currently it has no stock because of the rising demand all year round.
Maruti Suzuki India's registered sales of more than lakh for two consecutive months. In October it recorded a sale of 1,07,555 units and in November it showed 1,02,503 units in the Indian auto sector. But if the market experts are to be believed, Maruti will be not able to achieve this milestone in December.
In November, Maruti accounted a total sale of 1,12,554 unit which includes exports too. MSI's highest sales is 1,18,908 car in October, with a sales hike of 39.21 per cent over last year's sales.
As per the Indian auto company, it will hasten the manufacturing by 10 per cent to reach to the production mark of 1.1 lakh car every month from October, 2010, which will accelerate its yearly output to be 13 lakh in the coming 2011-12. Currently, the Indian arm is 54.2 per cent owned by Suzuki the Japanese auto giant with yearly capacity of 8.5 lakh cars in Gurgoan facility while Manesar plant can manufacture upto 3.5 lakh cars yearly making a total of 12 lakh cars every year. Maruti has declared an investment of Rs 1,925 crore or its third manufacturing plant with an installed capacity of 2.5 lakh cars in Manesar production unit.
