Maruti to phase out Omni and 800 models

India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is planning to phase out its one of the most popular and old models Maruti 800 and Maruti Omni. The Maruti 800 model is still very popular in India but because of its less compatibility with new emission norms which are expected to be applied from the year 2010 the company is planning to phase out this vehicle. According to reports the New emission norms Bharat stage-4 will be applied in 11 cities of India from April 2010 which includes Ahmadabad, Agra, Bangalore,Chennai, Surat, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune and Kanpur.

According to Government the cities other then these 11 cities will come under the emission norms BS-3 and the BS-4 will be applied in these remaining cities from the starting of the year 2015. By then theMaruti company is expected to phase out its Maruti 800 model completely.
