Maruti Vitara Brezza Launching Tomorrow

March 08, 2016: Update: Maruti has launched its most awaited car this year, the Vitara Brezza. Priced at an amazing Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the car is sure to be successful, given the features and styling it comes in. The car features attractive colour options to suit one's individual taste. The DDiS200 diesel mill in the Brezza gives it a class leading fuel economy of 24.3kmpl and a 0 to 100kmph run of 13.3 seconds. It boasts many segment first features, both inside and outside the car. For all those who were eagerly awaiting the debut of Maruti's new compact SUV, it's just a matter of another 24 hours. Although, the Vitara Brezza had been showcased in flesh at the recently concluded Indian Auto Expo 2016, a lot of key information was kept away from the prying eyes of the public. 

The largest carmaker of the country has high hopes with the upcoming Vitara Brezza. The main reason, is that the playing field is relatively open right now. The Ford EcoSport has been ruling the segment since launch and has had a clean run, due to lack of competition. Moreover, Hyundai is yet to reveal it's sub 4-metre compact SUV. The Korean giant's compact SUV will be based on the Carlino concept and there's a lot of time before the production version sees light of day. Maruti will be making the most out of this opportunity and build considerable market share before the segment gets crowded.The car will be pitted against the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300.

The Brezza's design is a departure from what we are used to seeing with run-of-the-mill Marutis. It ducks just under the 4 metre mark in terms of length, letting it exploit the sub 4-m rule to the fullest. The aggressive face with projector headlamps and daytime running lamps, large 16 inch wheels and the floating roof effect make the Brezza stand out. What we particularly like, is the two-tone paint scheme that Maruti will be offering with the top-spec Brezza. The roof, can be finished in either white or black, which we think really adds to the oomph factor. 

The interiors are laid out well. There's a similar waterfall themed centre console like we've seen in the Swift, with quality levels being more or less on par. Maruti has pulled out all the stops in equipping the compact SUV :- it gets automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the usual goodies like steering mounted audio controls and an MID. Moreover, the Brezza might get customizable interiors too, just like the Tata Tiago. Maruti may give customers the option of color coding certain interior panels with the exterior paint.

On the engine front, the Brezza will be offered with a diesel engine only. The 1.3 litre DDiS200 engine that churns out 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque will power the compact SUV. The diesel motor is the same unit that powers many other Marutis, including everything from the Swift to the S-Cross. A petrol engine will follow suit, if Maruti sees demand for the same.

The car will be rolled out of regular Maruti showrooms and not from Nexa outlets. We expect the Brezza to be priced very aggressively, with prices starting at the 8 lakh rupee mark.
