Mercedes Benz India registers 40% growth in the period of Jan to Aug 2011

Amid the news of dismal car sales, there is one lucky company to be glad with its sales and that is Mercedes Benz. The company has recorded a whopping 40% growth in the first eight months of 2011. In the corresponding period last year Mercedes sold 3,495 units. But after facing a tough competition from rival BMW which was outnumbering the sales of Mercedes, the luxury car major managed to sell 4,890 units from January to August this year.

Mercedes Benz India director (sales and marketing) Debashis Mitra told that the company has decided to enter retail leasing from September. Individual or self-leasing, a hot quotient in marketing nowadays will help the Mercedes Benz to grab a better position in luxury car segment. So far corporate leasing generates 70 per cent of corporate sales for Mercedes in India.

With the recent launch of Mercedes Benz C class available at starting Rs 25.43 lakh (ex-showroom price), Mr. Mitra said that the company will begin the leasing activity of Mercedes Benz E class and C class from Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai. Partner company Mercedes Benz Financial will help with the leasing. Mercedes C class is the new sedan available in petrol and diesel variant. The company in the coming times is ready to launch 3 to 4 cars. Mercedes Benz is also associated with Formula 1 Grand Prix and start event in India from October 28-30. The company will offer an opportunity for its car buyers during this and next month to experience the track known as the Buddha International Circuit.
