Mercedes, the dazzling name in world of luxury cars has come up with its latest night vision technology which will add new horizons to the safety quotient of a car. An complimentary spotlight feature is unfolded by Mercedes-Benz for its Active Night View Assist headlamps. This is an exclusive feature embedded in models of Mercedes which is designed to given a greater level of safety to those walking on road in dark or poor light condition, thus making its car count among safest in industry.

Until now the Active Night View Assist feature of Mercedes-Benz cars was working on infra-red camera which was used to make a live video of people walking in dark within a range defined previously and then the video is shown on a display screen placed in front of the driver which helps the driver keep a view on road activities even in dark. This technology is designed to keep the driver safe from accidents which occur due to poor visibility in dark or low light condition.

The new technology now used in this Active Night View Assist will keep it active at a highest speed of 45 Kmph with an additional safety feature in which a spotlight hits the place where a person walking on road and thus gives safety to not only the pedestrian but also to the driver. This spotlight feature is dependent on the infra red camera which already exists in cars embedded in the headlamp assembly. It can detect movement on road and other objects at a distance of 80 metres and then with this new technology, the area will be lightened with a main beam of headlamps. Now the person on road will be lightened up to 4 times before the car comes.

The technology works in association with the additional camera fixed within the windscreen which keeps a track on Lane Keeping Assist and Speed Limit Assist. With this camera it determines if it is safe to lighten the spotted region keeping the position of other cars into consideration.
