Mercedes-Benz India has plans to introduce five vehicles based on the MFA platform. First came the B-Class, then the A-Class, followed by the CLA and GLA. The company will also introduce another vehicle on the same platform. However, Mercedes-Benz is yet to confirm the fifth vehicle on this platform.
The MFA platform has been designed to make front-wheel drive vehicles and also to target the younger audience. The company has already exploited the CL and GL platform, and hence we assume that the company will get the SLA as the next vehicle from its line-up.
The SLA could be the new entry-level roadster or two-door coupe. This will help the Stuttgart-based manufacturer to excel in sales numbers in this segment, especially in the American and European markets. The company has the SLK as a compact sports car, but a smaller four-pot mill could power the SLA. This is just a possibility that we are suggesting. The company could surprise us with an all-new product as well.
At the moment, the GLA is still a concept but we can expect it to be launched in India by 2015. The CLA is due by the end of this year, as the company could be looking at introducing the MFA platform vehicles to enhance the sales. Mercedes-Benz claims to get a majority of sales from the MFA platform by 2020, in an emerging market like India. The GLA will also be an ideal fit and the company will be working towards its goal of bringing it as quickly as it can to India to boost its sales in the SUV segment.
