MG to introduce the ZS-petrol in India in early-2021.
-
It will be the facelifted model as offered in other global markets.
-
It is expected to get a single engine option: 160PS 1.3-litre turbo-petrol with a choice of manual or automatic transmission.
-
It could feature cruise control, six airbags, panoramic sunroof, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The ZS will likely be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards to compete in the Indian compact SUV segment.
MG has been an exclusively SUV brand in India but it’s still to enter the extremely popular compact SUV segment. This is due to change soon as the carmaker is expected to introduce the petrol-powered ZS which has been spied testing again.
The ZS has already been in India in its pure-EV avatar but that’s a premium offering priced over Rs 20 lakh. The petrol-powered ZS would be a better competitor for the Indian compact SUV segment. MG is bringing the most recent facelifted version of the ZS to India which looks sleeker and sportier than the ZS EV. Even though the latest ZS has already been showcased, the test car spied was still wrapped in camouflage so we might see minor market-specific changes.
It will likely be equipped similar to its global-spec with comforts such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, auto AC, cruise control, and up to six airbags. A previous sighting of the MG ZS test mule had revealed a panoramic sunroof, same as the ZS EV.
MG is expected to offer the petrol-ZS in India with a single engine, possibly the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit. In its global-spec, it is tuned to an output of 160PS of power and 230Nm of torque with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
The petrol-powered ZS is expected to be launched sometime in early-2021 as a rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster. It could be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards and would become MG’s entry-level offering in India.
