Mitsubishi to come with new hatchback soon

Mitsubishi Motors, declared recently that, the Japanese auto giants will introduce the company's first hatchback in the Indian car market in the next three years time. The new vehicle is being developed at Mitsubishi manufacturing unit in Thailand. Mitsubishi is also lured with the growing auto market small car segment which holds 70 per cent of the market share. The hatchback is expected to compete in the B+ segment with the likes such as Maruti Ritz, Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, Hyundai i20 and Fiat Punto.
The new hatchcback from the Japanese car makers is interpreted as the “Mitsubishi Global Car”. The car is expected to be coming in two powertrain option which will be affixed with 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre mull. For making this small car Mitsubishi will be using the third manufacturing unit in Thailand, near by the company's other two production plants. As per the company's spokesperson, the company plans to launch the new Global car by March 2012.
Mitsubishi intends to sell more than 2,00,000 car of this hatchback every year from the company's Thai unit. The company plans to sell 70 per cent of the car's total manufacturing in the other markets. If the industry rumours are to be believed, the new car from the auto giants will not only cater the growing markets such as China, Brazil and India but also for the established auto markets such as Japan and Europe.
Back home in India, Mitsubishi, is looking forward to increase the yearly manufacturing capacity to 1,00,000 cars from the current installed capacity 12,000 cars. If the industry experts are to be believed, the launch of the new car from Mitsubishi in the mass segment will push the company's current position in the Indian auto market. Currently, Mitsubishi is ruling the domestic auto market with its winning cars such as Mitsubishi Cedia, Mitsubishi Montero, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Mitsubishi Pajero and Mitsubishi RVR. At present, the Japanese auto giants rolls out its cars in the domestic auto market in collaboration with Hindustan Motors.
Recently, Nissan and Mitsubishi, have announced that they will collaborate there operation by exchanging creative ideas and also technical expertise. In future they also plans to come with new car models and one-ton pickup. The company expects to enhance the competition in the market.
