More power and more variants for Tata Nano: Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata, the head of Tata Group envisions to offer Tata Nano in more variants in future, including electric as well as diesel variants. Currently, Tata Nano features 624cc petrol engine and now Tata Group plans to upgrade its power substantially. At the Geneva Motor Show 2012, Ratan Tata mentioned that the firm is certainly planning to come up with new variants of Tata Nano, which would be powered with diesel and electric motors. However, when asked about the launch plans, he denied mentioning any set dates for the launch.

In the beginning of 2012, Tata Motors admitted that Tata Motors failed to market Tata Nano properly and the firm will now try to diminish its image of a poor man’s car which comes at a starting price of Rs. 1.40 lakh. The company is seeking a revivification of Tata Nano. Right now, the company has been selling about 9000 units of Tata Nano per month, which is way below the production capacity.

Tata Nano was launched in 2009 and since then the company has had very high expectations from this car as it was the dream project of Ratan Tata. On the other hand, the 2012 Tata Nano has been introduced in new and fresh colors, such as Champagne gold, rouge red, aqua blue, mojito green and papaya orange to lure consumers towards it and surprisingly the preliminary response has been inspiring. Hopefully the company will soon bring in Tata Nano diesel into the market.
