Few days back, we informed you about Maruti Suzuki India's upcoming line-up including Maruti XA Alpha compact SUV, new A-Star and new SX4. Now, the next-generation 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star has been spotted testing for the first time.
The current generation A-Star/Alto was launched in 2008, and it seems like the time has come to revise the vehicle, which will be based on the latest WagonR, launched a year before in the Japanese auto market. The vehicle is expected to be slightly longer compared to the outgoing model and will get some additional features inside the cabin.
The larger wheelbase will offer more legroom space for both front and rear passengers, while the taller body makes the interior more spacious and airy. The spyshot reveals that the vehicle retains the interior ingredients, but the construction and build quality of the cabin looks better than the current model. The spotted vehicle sports a slot for a single din music system.
The vehicle was caught testing somewhere in the south European mountains. The exact engine configuration for the next-generation A-Star/Alto is yet to be disclosed, but we expect it to be powered by the same 1.0-litre k-Series petrol engine, and the company might also fit the 800cc turbo-diesel engine.
