The Maruti Swift is expected to go for a revamp this time and it is hoped to be launched with a revised engine in coming July. If we probe what will be new in the new Maruti Swift 2011, then we have to learn some engineering as the technicians at Maruti have reportedly tweaked with the engine. As per preliminary reports, the 2011 Maruti Swift engine will now deliver more torque even at lower RPMs. This means that the engine will be pumping out more power with lesser effort. That makes the Maruti Swift more powerful and hopefully more economical as well. As per unconfirmed reports, the D13 motor in the Swift has been reworked to produce 75PS of power at 4000RPM similar to the existing Swift. However, the real miracle lies in the 190Nm of torque that the new Swift will produce at just 1750 RPM compared to the existing Swift that is able to reach the mark at 2000 RPM. Besides it is also said that the turbo lag in the Swift has also been taken care of fully.

The proposed changes in the Swift would surely make it more acceptable and is hoped to retain its number one position in the premium hatchback car segment. The A2 segment cars including Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon-R, Maruti Estilo, Maruti A-Star, Maruti Ritz and Maruti Swift witnessed significant growth in April 2011 sales compared to April 2010.
