Mercedes-Benz’s new C-Class couple has been spotted testing on the international roads. The new coupe is expected to be launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor show and will compete with the BMW’s 4-series. This will be the second generation model and it may well go on sale by the end of the year. The engine line-up of the C-Class coupe will be similar to a sedan, and the top of the line C63 AMG coupe is expected to sport the new twin turbo 4.0 litre V8 engine.
Cosmetically the new C-Class coupe gets a few cosmetic changes which set it apart from its predecessor. These include a tweaked front-end which imparts a sportier look, along with a sharply raked windscreen that slopes into the roofline. The rear has been styled in a manner similar to the S-Class coupe.
Mercedes-Design chief Gorden Wagener said “You have freedom in the platform with proportions and dimensions so you can create some pretty diverse cars from that. You're not just defining a car, but 10, 15, 20 other cars," he said. "So you can’t mess it u. A three-box saloon is also the toughest style of all to design,” he added. “A sports car is hard to get wrong, but you have to work on proportions a lot with saloons.”
The C-Class coupe will borrow common design traits of the C-Class family such as the long bonnet, the cab-backward profile to emphasize it rear wheel drive trait, and the line dropping design from the bonnet which helps lengthen the front end, giving an appearance that the car’s weight sits on the rear wheels.
