2012 Tata Nano has just been launched and the diesel variant of the model is in the making. But Tata Motos is not satisfied with just this. Tata Motors is now expecting the newer crop to share their opinion to offer a design makeover particularly where interiors are concerned. The National Institute of Design students are the lucky participants to work on the unusual project.

Though compact package from outside, the interiors have always been the sore point for the driver. Tata Nano users do not particularly favour the longer drives on the car for it cramps the style of the driver badly. The driver is almost too near to the steering wheel falling all over it. Expecting comfort during the drive is a little far-fetched with not enough legroom to speak about. The rear passengers too are not spared as well. The seats are almost too narrow with more than half of the thigh dangling out of the seat. Discomforts apart, the selling factor has always been the top mileage and low cost. These two points are enough to take the small car sales zooming high equalling a motorbike in comparison.

Tata Nano is not expected to relive the past anymore. Hopefully the turn around time has come and 2012 Tata Nano is the key. Apart from the usual touch up in the exteriors, the major transformation has come with the tweaked 624 cc engine under the hood. The petrol engine is now capable of giving out a top power of 38 PS and new torque figure of 51 Nm. The extended bumper in the behind as a cover-up to its engine brings out the actual makeover. In the entire makeover, not a single rupee is added to the Tata Nano price making it the best deal ever. Hopefully the redesigned interior layout will fill up for the other deficits in the car.
