Nissan India sets new sales record in February

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) today reported its highest ever monthly sales in India with February up 158% year-on-year. Nissan sold 5371 units in February compared to 2081 units a year ago, demonstrating Nissan’s growing momentum within the market and passing the 5,000 unit mark for the second consecutive month. The Made-in-India Nissan Sunny was top-seller with 3130 units. Sunny was launched in India in September 2011. And in January a popular diesel variant of the all-new sedan was added to the range. Nissan’s premium hatchback Micra, also produced in Nissan’s plant in Oragadam, sold 2198 units compared to 2030 units a year ago. Other models - the Nissan Teana, X-Trail and 370z contributed the remaining sales.

Commenting on the continued growth Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “I’m delighted to see Nissan achieve our highest ever monthly sales total in India. This result reflects the growing acceptance of Nissan cars amongst Indian customers and is something we want to build on. “It is particularly satisfying to see Sunny and Micra – both models built in India, for India – are proving to be amongst the most preferred cars in their respective segments.” Mr G.M. Sunny Diesel is priced at Rs 7, 98,000 (XL) and Rs 8, 78,000 (XV), ex-showroom, New Delhi. The Sunny Diesel powered by the most evolved K9K diesel engine, has a fuel efficiency of 21.64 kmpl (ARAI certified). Sunny Petrol is priced at Rs 5,83,000 (XE), Rs 693,000 (XL) and Rs 773,000 (XV). Micra Petrol prices are Rs 4,13,500 (XE), Rs 4,75,500 (XL) and  Rs 5,41,300 (XV). Micra Diesel prices are Rs 5,84,900 (XL) and Rs 6,29,300 (XV). All prices are ex-showroom New Delhi. Nissan Sunny has received the Economic Times Zigwheels Award as the Best Entry Sedan of 2011. The J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2011 India Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study has also selected Micra as the top car in the premium compact segment in 2011.
