Nissan India starts Trial exports of Micra

Nissan India, a subsidiary of Japan based Nissan Motor Company, has started trial exports from its Oragadam plant (near Chennai) through the Ennore Port, on Monday. The company shipped-out six Nissan Micra cars as test consignment to Spain. Trial transportation for exports is a very important milestone for the company as it gears up for exports to Europe from second half of 2010, Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motor India managing director, said on the occasion.

The India is going to be a major exporting hub for the Nissan Motors as it has invested heavily on its operations and facilities in India. Company is planning to export its cars including Nissan Micra to more than 100 country's from here, covering regions like Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Nissan India is aiming to export around 1,10,000 cars from India in year 2011, which will be increased to 1,80,000 units in coming years.

As per Mr Tokuyama, the Nissan Micra model will be launched in India in next month, and the export from the country will start from July this year. The shipment was expected to reach Barcelona in 3 weeks. Company was gearing up for exports to Europe from second half of 2010, added Mr Tokuyama. After its launch in India, Nissan Micra will be competing with some of the most popular cars in India, including Maruti Swift, Ritz and A-Star, Hyundai i10 and i20, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia.
