The era of Electric Vehicles (EV) has already started and the hint is from Nissan's stable where the company is speeding up the production of its most aspirated Electric car, Nissan Leaf by introducing overtime at its Japanese factories. The decision will come in action at the end of this financial year and the production of Nissan Leaf will reach the maximum level.

The Japanese auto maker has been speeding up the production process of its famous electric car, Nissan Leaf and now finally has decided to reach the full production by the end of March 2011. The zero emission car started its production back in the month of October 2010 and since then the company is taking essential steps to speed up its production speed.

Addressing the decision of Nissan, Seiji Honda who is the head of the Oppama factory commented that in coming two months, the factory will try to increase its production by adding overtime so that other cars' production remains unaffected. The company has taken the strong decision because the demand of the electric car has increased exponentially.

Till the time Tennessee and Sunderland facility does not start the production, company will supply the Electric car, Nissan Leaf from its Oppama production facility.

Honda also commented that the company is working hard to increase the production of Nissan Leaf and at present it has reached a position where one out of every seven car is Nissan Leaf. The company has bagged an order of 6,000 units in Japan and 20,000 units in United States by now. The first car was sold in Portugal in Jan 2011 and deliveries in European markets will trigger soon.

Nissan in partnership with Renault is establishing factories all around the globe to produce a total of 5,00,000 lithium-ion batteries in a span of 1 year by year 2015.
