Nissan looks at sourcing for luxury cars from India

Nissan Motor India is continiously working on its planned projects in India — like sourcing, hiring and identifying production bases. Even for the luxury car segment, the leading Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan feels that India India is the better sourcing point because it is the cost effective location as the company official said.

The senior company official said that its upcoming manufacturing plant at Orgadam near Chennai will be its exporting hub for sourcing spares for Nissan's operation in other parts of world. Around 90% of the car manufactured at company's new manufacturing plant would have indigenous content. Nissan Motor India has already signed up with 94 Indian vendors for this project. Nissan Motor India started the process of evaluating the enquries.
