Nissan, Renault aim for 5 per cent share with new launches

Renault and Nissan the well know auto makers are expecting to enjoy 5 per cent market share in the domestic auto sector by 2014. The car makers will introduce five cars each whose launch is awaited in the coming two years time.
Nissan the Japanese auto giant and Renault, the biggest automobile in France has strengthen the modalities at the auto giants joint unit at Orgadam, Chennai and plan to produce the luxury saloon Renault Fluence by April, 2011. The new sedan will be French auto maker's first solo car in India and is speculated to be coming in May, 2011. Also the luxury crossover sports utility vehicles Renault Koleos will be launched in October. The other three car models will come by 2012 which would include a 1.1 L hatchback. This hatchback will be pitched against Hyundai i10 whereas Fluence will be placed with the likes Honda Civic. The SUV Koleos will compete with Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V.
Ashish Sinharoy, Vice-President, Corporate affairs, Renault India, said that, the company is expecting to roll out 70,000 to 75,000 cars in 2013-14 as the cars will, by then be present in Indian auto segment. And after that the French auto giant plans to generate five per cent sales in India.
The Japanese auto makers expect to increase its dealership by more than 100 by 2013 from the current 22 dealerships. Renault is rapidly adding to its dealership outlets to 70 by 2013.
Nissan launched Nissan Micra in July, 2010 and plans to bring in sedan Nissan Sunny by 2012. It is also mulling to bring in a multi purpose car. Nissan plans big for 2012 by bringing nine cars in the Indian market that would help the carmaker establish itself among the top five automakers in the country. Nissan excels in the domestic auto market with luxury SUV Nissan X-Trail, premium sedan Nissan Teana and Nissan 370Z, shipped as CBU from the home ground of the company. The new car models will be manufactured in the Chennai unit. Nissan and Renault with common global CEO in Carlos Ghosn have ventured in 50-50 partnership with Bajaj Auto to develop a new low cost car.
