Nissan to launch two new cars in India

Nissan the Japanese auto giant last year launched its hatchback Nissan Micra and is enjoying a sales upsurge and now the company wishes to introduce two more car model in the domestic auto market.
As per the sources the first car model is christened as K2 which is being manufactured on Nissan Micra two generation old car model which was codenamed as K11. It is expected to be adorning with new revamped version “top-hat” or it will be affixed with new interiors and new body.
The new entry level small car coded as I2 by Nissan is being worked along with the Japanese auto company's partner Ashok Leyland for the Indian auto market.
If the industry sources are to be believed the new I2 hatchback is being made by a US firm Defiance Testing and Engineering which was taken over by Ashok Leyland in 2007. The auto company will take the lead in working towards the I2 and for keep the production cost low, major engineering work will take place in India.
It is also being heard that Nissan is planning to capture the domestic auto market with I2 as it expects to sell it in a price band of Rs 2.5 lakh and capture the Maruti Alto market. As per the speculations the hatchback will be introduced by 2013 in India.
From the reliable sources it is being learned that K2 is expected in the last month of 2012 which will be competing against Maruti Wagon R and Maruti A-star. As per the auto market assumptions the car will come with a price tag of Rs 3.5 lakh. The engine in the hatchback will be similar as it will be affixed with 1.2 litre three-cylinder petro motor which is also affixed in Nissan Micra but it is also being learned that 1 litre engine is also in consideration. Nissan has also ventured with Bajaj ULC but the air is still not clear about the progress.
Nissan in December, 2010 Nissan in China showcased a new saloon on its V platform.it is expected the car will be coming in India by the mid of 2012. In July, 2010 the company came with the petrol version and diesel was declared in December. Since its inception of Nissan Micra the company has rolled out 4,500 units. The Japanese auto company also includes Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Teana and Nissan 370Z all three are shipped as CBU from Japan. Currently the company has 20 dealers and plans to raise it to 100 by the year 2013.
