Nissan Motor Company made an announcement that its Indian Subsidiary, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) would be the sole body governing sales, marketing and distribution of all its vehicles and parts in India. The announcement would be in effect from February 14, 2014.
This announcement came as a subsequent result of Nissan's termination of contract with Hover Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. which, earlier, was exclusively responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of Nissan branded vehicles and parts in India. Further details regarding the business structure are expected to erupt in due course of time. Kenichiro Yomura, Nissan President, India Operations, said: “Nissan is now at a point of maturity in India where the time is right to establish our own marketing and distribution operations. Nissan’s priority will be to ensure a smooth transition from current operations. We remain committed to our customers and will continue to deliver high quality products and services.”
Nissan had a great time at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, where it unveiled an array of vehicles which include 2014 Nissan Sunny, facelifted MPV Nissan Evalia, and Super GT racing winner, GT500 GT-R supercar. Additionally, it also launched its Nissan GT Academy where Karun Chandok also graced the occasion. Its prestigious Friend-Me Concept Car was also on display at the Expo.
