The question of Electric Cars being the future of the auto industry has been posed in front of everyone these days. The Environmental concern has been a long due issue, and a lot of research has been done in this field. Government is promoting the new genre of electric cars which will greatly help reduce emissions in the environment. The auto giants are betting high that a major share of the market will comprise of electric or battery operated cars.

In this league, Nissan is working hard on the direction of making less polluted or unpolluted cars. In this scenario, Nissan introduced, an electric two seater car which has made it to the limelight. Nissan has extensive plans and this can be justified as the Japanese auto giant is planning a production of 250,000 electric cars in one year. The first entry is Nissan Leaf, the electric car which will soon be seen in December rolling on the streets of US and Japan and by next year in Europe. Renault, the French car marker is also planning to make 250,000 electric cars in one year.

Nissan spokesperson confirmed that the two auto giants will manufacture 500,000 batteries for the EVs in one year. The company produces batteries with the Japanese electronics manufacturers NEC Corp.

Hideaki Watanabe, Corporate Vice President of the NEC Corp, said that, the company does not wish EVs to be its top product. Nissan has an experience of making lithium-ion batteries which will come in Nissan Leaf, though this concept will be new for cars. The lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in electronics likes laptops, and more.

The new car is designed by Nissan and EV system technology is made by Renault. The small electric wheeler will be known as “Nissan New Mobility Concept” which can run up to 100 km (62 miles), producing a maximum speed of 75 km (47 Miles) in one hour.

Nissan has extensive plans for setting up electric charging stations and is in talks with government about the same. The dealers will have battery recharges and the company hopes to rechare 2 million electric cars and plans to set up 5,000 recharge which quickly charge the battery. Nissan also plans to reuse the EV batteries which it will resell for storage and back ups.
