Nissan's small car in India by July 2010

Nissan, Japanese automaker has announced that it will introduce its first small car in Indian market by July to compete in the small car segment and to make profit in the country’s booming economy. In India nearly two-thirds of total car sales is comprised of small cars, or hatchbacks and Maruti which is Nissan’s Japanese rival Suzuki's local brand control more than half of the market. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan India's managing director said that they would open the new factory in March and the production would commence in May and the hatchback would sell from July.
He further added that they had come to become a major player in India and India has emerged as the most important market after Russia and China. Nissan also has plans to export the vehicle from late 2010 and to establish India as a global manufacturing hub. The new small car will help the firm acquire the growing Indian car market which has been forecasted to triple to six million cars from two million in a decade.
