Modified On Jun 06, 2014 11:55 AM By Sourabh for Honda Mobilio

Honda, the Japanese manufacturer has officially announced that it will bring its MPV Mobilio in the month of July. The manufacturer after conquering the C segment with its latest entrant Honda City is now making its way towards the growing MPV segment. The company for the first time brought its diesel engine with City and will use the same in the upcoming Mobilio. Based on Brio's platform, the MPV lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. Mobilio promises the reliability and fuel efficiency of Honda along with added three row configuration.

In India, the MPV was first introduced at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo where it shared the stage with Honda Jazz and Honda Accord Hybrid along with the two new concept, NSX and Vision XS 1. The MPV was admired not only by the visitors at Expo, but also by the industry experts and media people. Seeing the joint family trend in India, the MPV is expected to churn some decent sales number.

The exterior gets the company's "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" which was first seen in 4th Generation Honda City. The front façade gets bold horizontal slat chrome grille while the oval fog lamps are fitted in the black plastic housing.  The MPV rides on a 15-inch wheel and has a wheelbase of 2650mm. Moreover, the interior looks a bit like sibling compact sedan Amaze. The dual tone interior with decent quality of materials and top notch fit and finish adds elegance and unanimity inside the cabin. The seats are wide and comfortable with decent leg-room and knee-room even in third row. Though third row is sufficiently big enough to accommodate two elders quite easily. With 60:40 rear seat split, the boot space can be increased enough to hold a weekend getaway luggage.

Honda Mobilio MPV will be made available in both the fuel trims. The petrol model carries a powerful yet fuel efficient 1.5-litre engine that musters a maximum power output of 117bhp while the diesel powered variant houses a 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops a power of 98bhp.

With the arrival of Honda Mobilio, one thing is sure that being a superior MPV, it would certainly affect the sales of Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia, though Ertiga being tagged with Maruti Suzuki won't be hammered much. With right pricing, Honda can really change the MPV segment for good.
