Right after the announcement of 2013 Union budget, the oil marketing companies have today decided to hike the petrol prices by Rs 1.40 per litre, effective from midnight. This is the second consecutive hike in 15 days, last time the fuel prices were revised on Feb 16 when the petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs 1.5 and 45 paise per litre.
Right after the petrol price hike was announced, people have started complaining about the govt which a day before announced the 2013 Union budget. After this hike, petrol prices in Delhi will cost Rs 70.46 per litre, including 19 per cent VAT. Justifying the reason, state-owned companies said that they had to take such a decision due to uptrend in international crude oil prices and depreciation in value of rupee against US dollar. The international petrol prices have increased to $ 131 per barrel from $ 128.57 per barrel.
