Peugeot Citroen to launch a new sedan in India

The second largest car manufacturer in Europe, PSA Peugeot Citroen made an announcement today regarding its come back in Indian auto market and this time the weapon will be a mid-sized sedan. The company will make its appearance in domestic market after complete ten years from its exit.


The French based company is to build a manufacturing plant on the Indian land by marking an end to its decision of working slow in the Indian market owing to the 2009 global economic slowdown. For now the location of this facility is not decided but soon the company will disclose the final plans.

The company officials have expressed a great joy in making a comeback to this lucrative market. They also announced that Peugeot will first launch its mid sized sedan in the domestic market as the initial strategy with a good localized content. Without disclosing the period of launch, the officials claimed to sell 50 per cent of its total vehicles outside Europe by 2015 as against the 39 per cent in running year.

PSA Peugeot Citroen Executive Vice-President (Asia) Gregoire Olivier has also commented that Indian auto market is a lucrative destination and it will help the company become a strong global player in coming times. He also said that the car models will be designed as per the Indian users demand and necessities.


The officials also disclosed that Rajesh Nellore will operate as the Managing Director in the Indian group of the company and he will be responsible for all the activities in the country.

PSA Peugeot Citroen in the year 2008 appointed Nellore as the Vice-President of the Indian group with an office in Chennai. The Indian auto market is not new to the company as it has already operated here with a local partner, Premier as joint venture Peugeot PAL India which was ended in the year 2001
