Porsche's baby SUV, the Macan, is set to get yet another engine option, come November 15. The 'R4' variant is all set to be officially launched and the biggest change is under the hood.
The Macan will get a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged motor, that puts out 252PS of power and 370Nm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the petrol motor propels it to 100kmph in just 6.7 seconds. Keep the pedal buried into the floor, and it will keep going till it hits 229kmph.
Notably, Porsche also offers a 3.0-litre diesel as well as a 3.6-litre turbo petrol option for the Macan. The R4 will be positioned as the 'entry-level' variant, with prices starting around the Rs 75 lakh mark. Needless to mention, it will be a CBU.
The SUV sits below the Cayenne in Porsche's line-up and will have the recently launched Jaguar F-Pace in its cross hairs. The British automaker's first SUV is available with a choice of two diesel engines – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a 3.0-litre V6 – at the moment, with prices ranging between Rs 68.4 lakh and Rs 1.12 crore.
Other than the engine, the Macan R4 will carry forward all the bells and whistles possible. Noteworthy features include adaptive suspension, a dedicated off-road mode as well as a seven-inch touchscreen paired to an 11-speaker Burmester audio system. Of course, the standard Porsche fare, including top-shelf leather upholstery, a sunroof, climate control and a host of other gizmos come ticked as standard.
Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming Porsche Macan R4.
