Renault Nissan likely to achieve targets at the Chennai plant before the deadline

Renault- Nissan union seems to achieve its targets in the criteria of the investments in the installed capacity and also the manufacturing unit which is embarked by the government of Tamil Nadu during the MoU which way before the seven years deadline commenced from 2008. It was stated by the Nissan Motors senior executive.
As per the Kiminobu Tokuyama, the Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motors India, the company has already invested an amount of Rs 2300 crore in the Japanese auto makers production facility in Chennai which is against the agreed Rs 4500 in the seven year commencing from 2008.
Tokuyama said that, the company does not need the time period of seven years. In the manufacturing facility it has an installed capacity of two lakh till now and have already invested Rs 2300 crore till now. But now the company is looking forward to expand the capacity from the present two lakh to four lakh units. Tokuyama revealed it in Hyderabad on the launch of the diesel variant of Nissan Micra.
By 2011, the Chennai production plant will begin the production of Renault Fluence and Koleos which will soon enter the Indian auto market. As per the agreement, the facility at present is manufacturing Nissan Micra, a hatchback. The savvy hatchback from the makers is the first car which is derived from an all new V-platform launched in the domestic auto sector. The popular small car will be shipped in more than 100 countries in the European, Middle East and the African auto markets. Tokuyama also unfolded the company's future plans to ship almost 1.1 lakh cars in the overseas markets especially targeting Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
He further said that, the auto company commenced the process of exporting Nissan Micra in the European market from October, 2010. Till now as many as 15,000 cars have been exported and the company now visions to export as many as 1.1 lakh cars by October, 2011 (accounting to first year), capturing the markets of Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He also said that, it may be raised to 2.1 lakh cross cars such as Micro and other coming in future.
