The French luxury car maker, Renault is all set to unveil the new third car from their stable in the B+ segment in India on the 29th October. The new small car Renault Pulse previously codenamed as Renault B58, is however expected to be launched in India during the 2012 Auto Expo in January. Out of the five launches slated to take place by the end of 2012, Renault Fluence sedan and Renault Koleos are already plying on the Indian roads. The Renault Pulse is believed to share the same V-Platform as that of Nissan Micra. Its not just the common platform, the two hatchbacks are expected to have lot many things in common. To begin with, both the hatchbacks are developed at the same manufacturing unit shared by Renault and Nissan at Chennai.
Renault Pulse will have the same three pot 1.2 L petrol and 1.5 L diesel engine generating the same peak power and peak torque output as well. The car ergonomics also coincide with that of Micra with the same setup of MacPhearson struts at the front and the torsion beam at the rear. The car exteriors along with the dimensions are likely to be similar. The slight variation can be observed in the interiors providing a different touch to the dashboard, steering wheel and interiors of the door panels. However, the same interior layout with the seating arrangement, overall space and the boot space are noted. Renault India envisages placing Pulse a notch higher than Nissan Micra in terms of pricing and stature. The Renault Pulse will be loaded with numerous frills with respect to the safety and comfort features.
The Anti-Lock Braking system (ABS), driver and passenger airbags, automatic climate control, keyless entry, steering mounted controls and many more are expected to be featured in the small car. The auto major with the launch of Renault Pulse certainly intends to foster its presence in the country and enhance its brand image against targeting to sell 5000-6000 cars like any other successful car in the country. The two major drawbacks for Renault in India are one, its limited dealer network, which the auto major is aggressively working to improve shortly; the other is the shortage of production space for manufacturing the upcoming Renault Pulse.
