Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Innova, each has their own share of popularity in the segment. Obviously, the auto major wouldn’t want to give away the market share to some new rival cropping up from behind without putting an aggressive fight. Sitting high in the premium SUV segment well beyond the reach of many, Toyota Fortuner takes head on with Chevrolet Captiva and Mitsubishi Outlander in the segment. Toyota price is the factor that could pull down the sales of Toyota Fortuner, Toyota’s clever strategy will drop that out of the equation. Introducing the two-wheel drive option in the new Toyota Fortuner and with the price cut down that goes with it, 2012 Fortuner might take away the cake this time. The icing on the cake this time however will be the new automatic gearbox that is likely to make its way on the in the 2-wheel drive variant.

However, the consumers could opt out of the automatic variant as well. The 5-speed manual gearbox will continue to assist the same 3.0 L D-4D common rail engine churning out the majestic power output of 170 Bhp and 343 Nm of top torque. The auto giant has been generous enough in extending its expert touch to the fascia of the 2012 Toyota Fortuner. The revamped version sports more of a muscled look replacing the flabby image of the outgoing model. The flatter grille with chrome touches and redesigned sharper headlamps make it look more powerful than ever before. The interiors of the car are also expected to look chic without being frugal where space is concerned. So, in another month Toyota India will clear the air bringing in the actual models right in front of us.
