SC asks Tata Motors and State government to file affidavits

Tata motors Ltd. and the West Bengal government both got the orders from the High Court to submit their affidavits on the Singur land case for the active hearing in the court. The Supreme Court stayed orders on the distribution of the Singur land among the farmers which was earlier done by the Calcutta High court. This land was given to Tata India for the Nano project.

The High Court said on Thursday that they had to follow the Supreme Court orders and the main application has to be heard. Both the parties have agreed to this and would be submitting the affidavits as per the state government orders. The state government has been asked to file affidavit by July 8 and Tata Motors to give their reply on July 12.

Tata Motors counsel Siddharth Mitra said that the right to petition will be heard in the court on July 14.The High Court has been given orders from the Supreme Court to take the final decision within a month, as this case is very important. The SC also said that it will not interfere in this case matters.

The Singur land is taken from the Tata India under The Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act which became active on June 21. As per this act the Singur land will be distributed among the farmers, to which the Tata India filed a case on the very next day in the High Court. The HC totally refused to put stay on the redistribution of land because of which the auto maker was forced to move to the SC.
