Volvo might not be participating the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, but the Swedish automotive manufacturer has aggressive plans for India in 2014. The company will introduce the facelift version of the S80 and we can also expect the all-new XC90 to land on Indian shores by the end of 2014, postpone its global unveiling. Our sources confirm apart from these two, Volvo will also be introducing one more product.
Volvo has the C range, V60, V70 and the XC70 in its range as an offering. We aren’t sure which one of these will come, but the V60 and V70 are doubtful as India isn’t a market for estate wagons. The C range could be a good option, but the XC70 might just be the new product for India. Volvo recently unveiled the Coupe Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but there is still some time to see the final production ready model based on this design. If Volvo considers to introduce this as a product, the Coupe might not get them the desired numbers in India so it will be out of contention even if the product gets into production.
Volvo had recently refreshed the S60 and XC60 for the Indian market and we also witnessed the launch of the V40 Cross Country, which became the company’s new entry-level vehicle. The Volvo V40 Cross Country is the latest hatchback on offer, and in our interview with the company’s MD Tomas Ernberg, he confirmed that the S80 facelift is on its way to India in coming few months. The Volvo V40 Cross Country got 160 bookings since its launch. The company is also increasing its touch points as it inaugurate three more Volvo dealerships in the coming few months.
