Dow Corning Corporation, one of the biggest international players in silicone and silicone based technology and innovation provides broad range of elastomers to deliver cost effective engine solutions for the present auto mobile industry that offers cars and utility vehicles etc.

Ben Son, Dow Corning’s Global Automotive Powertrain Systems major market leader, said that the company's high performance Silastic brand and Dow Corning brand engineered elastomersare capable of meeting several engine requirements for durable parts with more reliability. He further added that with heat resistant silicone choices  and fuel resistant fluorosilocone options, many part component design engineers are trying to make other applications for the same.

Mr. Son further added that the auto company's selection of fluorosilicone and silicone engineered elastomers give both processing flexibility and design for the engine application solution. The elastomers are used to articulate Radiator and intercooler seals along with improvised resistance to the advanced coolant blends, organic acid treatments and the temperature raising up to 200 degree Celsius. The boots for the constant velocity joint that is sealed in grease and also seal out the dirt helping in joint life. It will also provide auto mobile mass by eliminating heat shields on the inboard joints. The powertrain seals and gaskets which withstand rising temperatures, extreme pressures and the harsh fluids being used on cylinder heads, oil pans and more.

The main reason Dow Corning and Silastic manufactured elastmores are a popular pick as engine part solution is because these powerful compounds can outdo many organic polymers even when operating under harsh conditions. These can withstand the rising temperatures more than 200 degree celcius and controls aging, compression set and softening. They are also cold resistant under the temperatures up to minus 40 degree Celsius preventing brittleness, hardening and cracking. These can control degradation from the powertrain fluids, environment issues and solvents.

Dow Corning manufactured silicone and fluorosilicone elastomers which are available in both customized compounds and also standard blends that complies with design and process requirements. It will help in generating higher productivity and cost efficiency. The options available are High-Consistency Silicone Rubber (HCR) Compounds– Ready-to-use, heat-cured blends of silicone rubber base, fillers, modifiers, vulcanizing agents and pigments, Fluorosilicone Rubber (FSR) Compounds– High-consistency, ready-to-use, heat-cured blends of fluorosilicone rubber base, fillers, modifiers, vulcanizing agents and pigments and also Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) Elastomers– Two-part dispensable silicone materials that are readily mixed and rapidly heat-cured and more.

Mr. Son concluded that the company has increasing opportunities to fulfil the present engine requirement for long lasting, durability for cars and trucks also for three or two wheelers through their high performance elastomers.
