The Ambition variant is the least expensive automatic variant of the Kushaq
Skoda recently launched the Kushaq in India, priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 17.59 lakh (both ex-showroom). The SUV is being offered in three variants - Active, Ambition and Style. We have already seen what the Style variant looks like and have now come across some images of the mid-spec Ambition variant. Take a look at what it looks like and what are the major things you get over the base Active variant, and the major things you miss out on compared to the top-end Style variant.
The biggest change you will notice up front when you go from the base Active variant of the Kushaq to the Ambition variant, are the LED headlamps. You also get fog lamps on this variant with cornering function, making your drive that much easier in an urban environment. However, you do miss out on a bit of chrome outline around the lower faux air dam when you compare it to the top-of-the-line Style variant.
The Ambition variant also comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, and in comparison to the Active variant which gets 16-inch steel wheels, these look a tad bit more sophisticated. The design is chunky and typical of Skoda cars. In contrast, the higher-spec Style variant gets 17-inch machine-finished alloy wheels which are a bit more stylised.
If you take a closer look at the door, the inside door handle on the Ambition variant is done up in chrome. The ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors) are also electrically operated and you will also find that the driver seat is height adjustable. However, if you go for the Style variant, you will find that the door armrest is covered in leatherette.
The seat upholstery on the Ambition variant is made out of fabric, same as the Active variant. However, what you do get is a multi colour stripe running down the centre of individual seats to separate the two. Rear passengers will also appreciate the availability of AC vents and USB-C type charging ports, both of which you don’t get in the Active variant.
As you move up to the Ambition variant, the cabin suddenly starts looking a lot more premium. The dashboard gets a silver painted decor insert, you get a climate control system instead of a manual AC and the touchscreen system also moves up from being a 7-inch unit, to a full blown 10-inch unit with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. However in comparison to the Style variant, you still miss out on chrome around the AC vents, on the dashboard, around the gear lever and the handbrake lever.
The steering wheel on the Ambition variant gets a leatherette wrap. You also get a 3.5-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster that displays all the relevant information like whether the doors are open or not, the trip meter information, engine temperature, etc. The Ambition variant also gets paddle shifters, although they can’t be seen here as these images are of the manual transmission variant.
The Ambition variant also offers ambient lighting inside the cabin. You also get two USB-C sockets in the front console to connect your smartphone to the infotainment system. There is also a sunglass holder in the roof liner, which you don’t get in the top-spec style variant because that offers a sunroof, which leaves no space for the sunglass holder.
The Skoda Kushaq offers 385 litres of boot space on all its variants and that can be increased to 1405 litres once you fold the second-row seats. However, from the Ambition variant onwards you get the option of a 60:40 split seat. So you can create space according to your requirements, while still being able to seat one passenger in the second row. You also get a rear parcel tray in the Ambition and Style variants of the Kushaq.
The faux diffuser at the back is silver in colour on the Ambition variant, in contrast to the black skid plate offered on the Active variant. The colour matches that of the faux skid plate at the front. You also get a rear wipe and wash function on the Ambition variant of the Kushaq, along with a defogger. However, if you compare it to the top-spec Style variant, you miss out on the chrome garnish for the bootlid.
The Skoda Kushaq’s Ambition variant is the least expensive automatic variant in the SUV’s lineup. The only real gripe here is that you miss out on the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor, which would have been the perfect combination for those looking for a mix of blistering performance and useful features required for everyday driving.
