Skoda India like other car manufacturers seem to be more focused on its growth plans where Indian car market is concerned. Here is what Skoda Motors could be planning for the next five years to come for the global car markets where some cars or all of it might fit into its India line-up as well. 2012 seem to be the most happening year for Skoda India with plethora of launches. However, there is a high possibility of plus or minus on what Skoda predicts for the future, but this is a general idea based on the existing line-up from Skoda Motors.

First up on the cards from the Czech auto giant is a Skoda Superb with a downward price revision especially for the domestic market. The car which sits quite on the top in the premium sedan segment with a Skoda Superb price over Rs 18 lakh might be offered in a slightly modest version compromising on the upmarket features to account for the price reduction. Skoda Yeti facelift could be more for the global markets where the auto giant has recently launched the 4x2 variant of the crossover.

Two years down the line we might as well see new Skoda Yeti inevitably making its way into the Indian car market. Skoda India might bring back the estranged Skoda Octavia to where it used to belong once upon a time to place it below Skoda Laura this time. As mentioned, Skoda might fill in with more models for 2013, but as of now, the all new Skoda Superb seems to the one where Skoda would like to take a shot at.

Skoda conducting the test runs on the 2013 Skoda Superb just drives the point home. 2008 is when Skoda launched the second generation Skoda Fabia in India. It will be high time by 2014 for Skoda to introduce the Skoda Fabia on the latest MQB platform. Skoda seems to hit it off with its new MQB platform where most of the Skoda line-up is based on this platform. Compact MPVs could have gained traction by then.

The consumers might have accepted the concept completely or discarded it without a second look. So, Skoda has enough time to toy with the idea and introduce the MPV version of what is seen as a three door hatchback Skoda CitiGo. If luck favours, Indian car market will get to see the compact Skoda CitiGo MPV by 2014 to place it against Mahindra Xylo Mini which is expected to be launched soon.

Skoda will look to develop more models on their new MQB platform and 2015 will be the right time to introduce the new Skoda Superb and new Skoda Yeti on an entirely new base. Skoda recently introduced the rebadged version of Volkswagen Vento with Skoda Rapid in India. It will be over four years by then with Skoda Rapid and CitiGo surviving in the car industry globally to see revamped version of the Rapid sedan and Skoda might consider the MQB platform for Rapid sedan.
