The ongoing auto extravagance in Switzerland is expected to attract more than 700,00 people between March 3-13, 2016. Considered to be one of the top five auto shows in the world gives no reason to the manufacturers from around the world to miss this platform. Automakers besides revealing their new production ready cars and concepts, are also wrapping up the curtains from their special editions at the event. So let’s take a look at the special edition cars revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
Dacia Duster Essential
At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show Dacia’s stand featured the Duster Essential which is a new series of limited-edition variants of the Duster, along with Sandero, Logan MCV and all the models available outside the UK. These competitively-priced combinations of smart looks with improved driving comfort will be named depending on the market they are going to cater.
The exterior frame of the topical Duster Essential is painted in Chestnut Brown to complete the whole modish profile with new alloy wheels, specific badging and body colour bumpers. Even the interior does not lag behind with all those passenger comforts such as electric front windows, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and central locking. Dacia promises to offer its limited-edition versions with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty. Now that's really awesome!
Mercedes V-Class Exclusive Edition
Apart from the show stealer Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet, the 3-pointed star marque has also unveiled an exclusive edition of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class at the 2016 Geneva auto event. Donned with enough of luxury features, the Exclusive edition flaunts the “EXCLUSIVE” label on the brushed aluminium front wings. The mid-size van gets 19-inch light-alloy wheels, sports suspension and 17-inch braking system. Along with the ATTENTION ASSIST, the Crosswind Assist and the Active Parking Assist comes as standard, while the luxury van has a lot more show inside. So what do you expect? The Mercedes V-Class Exclusive Edition is priced from INR 56.94 lacs incl. 19% VAT.
Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet Edition 130
Joining the C-Class, another convertible from Mercedes is the AMG S63 Cabriolet "Edition 130”, created to mark the 130th anniversary of the automobile. Drenched in typical lavishing colors such as Bengal red or crystal grey or piano lacquer black, the car is an eye-catcher from cabin to the bumper. The bonnet of the only 130 of these tailor-made luxuries house a 5.5 litre V8-biturbo engine that gives out 585 hp and 900 Nm to be transferred to the all-wheel drive. Along with all those highly pampering features and limited edition privileges, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
The extremely well selling BMW i8 light up the BMW stand with its Protonic Red reflection at the 2016 Geneva Motor show. The paintwork is a combination of Protonic Red with Frozen Grey metallic accents, complemented by W-spoke 470 light-alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey metallic, while the interior comes with red double-stitching, carbon fibre and ceramic trims. Apart from the above aesthetic changes, the Protonic Red Edition resembles the standard vehicle mechanically, as a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo is attached to produce 231 hp and 320 Nm. The aforementioned engine when coupled with the 131 hp hybrid engine, returns a sum of 362 hp.
BMW i3 inspired by MR PORTER
The producer of style icons patched up with the luxury automaker to introduce the MR PORTER inspired BMW i3 at the Geneva auto event. The special edition i3 celebrates the fifth anniversary of MR PORTER by putting up timeless style enriched with contemporary features. Handcrafted with distinctive features each of the limited edition i3 is hand painted in a specially developed tuxedo blue colour with white accent stripes on the sides. On the technical base, an electric motor generates 170 bhp and 250 Nm of torque under the hood, that accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.
Hyundai i10, i20 and i30 GO! Special Editions
Celebrating the UEFA European soccer championships 2016, the Korean-based auto manufacturer has introduced a special edition GO! Trio at Geneva Motor show. The makeover editions of Hyundai i10, i20 and i30 showcased the company's support as the official sponsor of the Football event. With no mechanical updates, the new avatars can easily be noticed for their unique design details and individuality. The GO! special editions are painted in the colors of the French flag: blue, white and red from outside and the interior is exclusively done in blue and white accent.
All the special GO!s feature new lightweight alloy wheels and privacy glass. Some of the exclusive changes for the respective models are i10 - steering wheel, gearshift lever, blue stitching on seats and a glossy black finish on the centre console. i20 - blue and white stitching, blue surrounds for the gearshift and outer air vents and black headlining. i30 - premium front grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and centre console, steering wheel, air vents, and the door in gunmetal finish, etc.
Suzuki Swift Special Edition
Orange is the new color of the Special Edition Suzuki Swift which is being showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor show. Characterised by 16-inch black alloy wheels, LED DRLs and fog lamps on the shiny outer, the special Swift is going to serve its driver and passengers with heated front seats, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, a multi-functional display, air-conditioner with pollen filter and other essential comfort features. Not compromising on safety as well, Suzuki has equipped the car with ABS with brake assist, ESP with traction control, seven airbags and engine immobiliser. Special edition swift runs no the same mechanical base that comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 90 PS of max power.
Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith Black Badge Editions
Full of blacked out elements and meaner looks, Rolls-Royce rolled down two bespoke models at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show: the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge edition. Both the black beauties are donned in Deep Black exterior finish with detailed carbon fibre wheels and black interior that sport a centre-piece clock, black headline with the ‘starlight’ LED inlays, carbon-fibre composite trim and embroidered leather upholstery. An uprated 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine is employed to power up these Black Badge editions. While the Ghost is boosted to 603 hp and 840 Nm with an upgraded 8-speed automatic transmission, the Wraith gets a 70 Nm additional torque.
Jeep 75th Anniversary editions and Jeep Cherokee Overland
Jeep celebrates its Diamond Jubilee with an entire lineup of new limited editions and Cherokee Overland at 2016 Geneva Motor show. Jeep promises a total of 8000 units, each of them with an anniversary badge, orange and bronze exterior inserts, bronze rims, and exclusive interiors with anniversary logo adorned on the seats. Where the Sarge Green Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary Edition runs on a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine, the Grand Cherokee gets a 3.0-liter V-6, while the Jeep Cherokee Overland is the new top-of-the-line version powered by a 200 hp 2.2-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
No Jeep lags behind from other in terms of features. If Jeep Wrangler has got the noteworthy body-colour grille, glossy bronze headlamps, limited-slip differential, satellite navigation, premium sound system, then Grand Cherokee has a Brilliant Black livery, 20-inch light alloy rims, and a Quadra-Lift air suspension with five different levels of ground clearance. The Cherokee Overland flaunts its Overland badge on the tailgate with HID bi-xenon headlamps, bright grille and new 18-inch aluminium wheels in the front. The cabins of the butches are also loaded with a host of tech and comfort features.
Jeep Renegade Dawn of Justice Edition and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night
The unarguable pioneer of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment Jeep introduced its Jeep Renegade Dawn of Justice edition and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night at the Geneva event. While the Jeep Renegade appears in the upcoming Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, the Grand Cherokee SRT Night is a limited edition. Most of the "special" in the Renegade edition is cosmetic which is obvious from the grey color scheme and blacked out accents, while Grand Cherokee SRT Night is referred as the "fastest and most powerful Jeep ever.”
Under the bonnet, Jeep Renegade has a 120 hp 1.6-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine coupled to 6-speed manual transmission, but the Cherokee SRT Night limited edition sprints to 100 km/h from Zero with the help of a 6.4-litre V8 engine that produces 468 hp and 624 Nm. Renegade is based on the Longitude trim level and Granite Crystal livery style with black painted accents.
