Suzuki recalls its crossovers SX4 and Vitara in US

Last year was marked as the year of car recalls by the auto experts as more than 10 million cars were recalled by their car manufacturers over manufacturing defects. Manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Suzuki from Japan single handedly accounted for more than 7 million cars out of 10 million cars.
As they say history repeats itself, proving it right, a Japanese manufacturer becomes the first car manufacturer to recall vehicles over defects. Suzuki Motors recently announced that the recall of the crossovers Suzuki SX4 (Maruti SX4 in India) and Suzuki SUV Grand Vitara (Maruti SUV Grand Vitara in India) in the US market. Suzuki SX4 (Maruti SX4 in India) however is sold in a sedan variant in India.
According to the report,that Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4 (Maruti SX4 in India) are facing problems with timing chain pulley. The function of the pulley is to provide adequate tension, which in turn drives the belt that turns the water pump, AC, alternator and power steering pump, however it is failing to do that. The affected model for Grand Vitara were manufactured in 2009-2011 while the respective SX4 were manufactured in 2010-2011.
This pulley failure has led to the failure of power steering, AC, water pump, and alternator in 32,291 cars. The recall procedure will commence today.
