India based leading cart maker Tata Motors, which registered a total sales growth of 49 percent in the month of June 2010, has been witnessing a gradual increase in its influence in the country's auto market. The company has recently replaced Hyundi India as the second largest passenger car maker in the Indian market. With the inauguration of its Sanand plant in the country, Tata Motors will soon be able to sell its much demanded Tata Nano on the spot at its showrooms across the country. As the Nano plant becomes fully operational, the company will be able to produce as much as 2,50,000 units in the Indian market, which will certainly boost its market share as well as customer reach in the country.
The company is planning to launch a series of cars in the volume-driving compact car segment which accounts for more than 60 percent of the total passenger car sales in the Indian market. The Tata Aria, which was showcased at the Delhi auto Expo in January this year, is expected to hit the Indian roads by next month. The Aria is basically a crossover which will come powered with a 2.2L CRDi engine which is currently doing duties in its sibling like Tata Sumo Grande and Tata Safari.
With this, the company is also mulling over to enter the Used car business with its proposed pre-owned car arm - Tata Motors Assured Co. According to Tata Motors' senior vice-president of commercial passenger car business unit, S Krishnan, the organised pre-owned car segment will continue to grow with the quest of customers seeking better services. He added that for the month of June 2010, the used car segment accounted for almost eight per cent of its revenues.
