A new car concept is not only an interesting study, but it also gives a sneak-peak at how a proposed car will look like or the future models from the OEM will be based on. Two more concepts showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo that did not have to quite beg for attention, on the contrary were a couple of most sought-out by a majority of the crowd, were the Renault Dezir and Tata Pixel concepts.
Renault DeZir: An honest appraisal would be you cannot quite make out the front from the back of the car. No, I am not joking. The headlamps of the Renault DeZir concept are quite hidden behind the layered grille, which cannot be distinguished from the latter blending into each other in a single piece. The Renault emblem does not fail to make it to the center which even the blind will make it out, when felt by passing the hand over it and the same logo proudly sits on the rear end too. The concept is too curvy to start and the white and red blend in the interiors are quite interesting too. But the doors when opened, the concept looks rather funny like a twisted piece of metal than a car model, however, its all about uniqueness that appeals to many and uniqueness is what the Renault DeZir concept is all about.
There is ample chrome sprinkled over the grilled integrated headlamps and another luminous ribbon running on the rear end of the car on either sides. What could be the source of light in the DeZir concept is the rounded foglamps and a thin lipped lamps mounted on top of the unusually wide grille. The funny looking cars gets serious when it comes to business, which keeps its weight down at 830 kg with the clever use of Kevlar on the steel chassis. Housing a 150 Bhp engine, the car zooms into the air to reach the 100 kmph speed in 5 seconds in the process to attain the top speed of the car, not to mention its 21”wide tyres which keeps it on the ground intact.
Tata Pixel Concept: The concept is developed using the innovativeness at its best. The Pixel concept by every means, looks like a celestial object which one would have thought is only possible by imagination. The earthly comforts are taken to next level where the detachable LCD touch screen is offered for multi-functional use. The screen is basically the key for everything beginning with the key-less access it facilitates and once inside the car, it is a magical wand. The temperature controls, navigation, audio controls and all you have to do is use your fore-finger. The scissor doors offer unhindered access into the car and the play button on the touch screen sets the car intomotion.
Driving the Tata Pixel concept seems like a child’s play with its capability to handle the car with utmost ease at even the absolute zero radius situations with a minimal 2.6 m turning radius, quite understandable given the compact form which offers a front-wheel drive system with a rear sitting 1.2 L diesel motor. The low on CO2 emissions and the light weight car is born to serve the European car market. But, the popularity of the car precedes its launch which has become a cause for many whispers at the Geneva Motor Show and meant to be marketed in the international car markets.
