Tata Harrier’s Waiting Period Stretches To 4 Months In May 2019

Most mid-size SUVs sold in India have a waiting period which varies from city to city. We find out how long it will take you to get your hands on one in your city

If you are looking to buy a mid-size SUV, there are quite a few options in the market. There is the Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier and also Tata’s Hexa. However, most of these SUVs command a waiting period between a few days to up to four months depending on where you live. If you need to get your hands on one sooner rather than later, take a look at the table below to find out how long you’d have to wait to get your hands on one in your city.

Jeep Compass: Jeep’s baby SUV is a popular choice among buyers looking to get their hands on a mid-size SUV and the average waiting period for it in most cities is 15 days. Dealerships in Hyderabad and Surat can offer you the Compass instantly, but if you are looking to buy one in Coimbatore, be prepared to wait it out for three months. Also, Thane, Faridabad and Noida have no Jeep dealerships and and if you live in those cities and want to buy a Comass, you will have to approach a dealership in a different city.

Tata Harrier: Tata’s new SUV has created quite a buzz in the country and that has led to a considerable waiting period in certain cities. Tata dealerships in every city on our list have a waiting period ranging from seven days (Surat) to four months (Bangalore). Delhi has a 15 week waiting period but if you are a Mumbaikar (Thane too), you’ll need to wait for three weeks. The waiting period is similar in Kolkata too. In all other cities, the waiting period for the Harrier ranges from one month to three months!

Mahindra XUV500: The original XUV can be had instantly in Pune, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Patna and Faridabad. In other cities, the waiting period ranges from 10 (Bangalore) to 45 (Lucknow) days. Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Surat dealerships will be able to deliver the SUV within 15 days while Chennai, Indore and Coimbatore dealerships will need at least three weeks.

Hyundai Tucson: Hyundai’s biggest SUV in India, the Tucson, has a waiting period in every city on our list. However, the time ranges from 10 days to a month, meaning you won’t have to wait for months after putting your money down on one. However, unlike other cars on the list, you can’t just go to a showroom and expect to come home with a Tucson on the same day.

Tata Hexa: The second Tata SUV on the list can be had immediately in most parts of the country. Residents of Surat, Thane, Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai can have one immediately if they desire. The maximum waiting period for Hexa is in Noida and Ghaziabad (3 months). Ironically, you can have the Tata Harrier, an SUV that commands a higher demand than the Hexa, in Ghaziabad and Noida in just eight weeks.
