Tata Motors mulls over overseas expansion

Tata Motors is now thinking over building manufacturing plants in numerous other countries in order to expand and amplify its international presence in the global auto market. As per the annual report of Tata Motors, this auto maker will now concentrate more on fuel efficient vehicles for both exports and domestic markets.The report also mentioned that Tata Motors will now keep an eye on opportunities pouring in from the global auto market in order to expand it globally. However, there was not any kind of information as to in which countries are Tata Motors planning to expand.

When enquired about the world expansion, Tata Motors said that they are still in the process of evaluation of the options. The evaluation will give the result as to what product is perfect for which market. Only after this procedure, the markets will be decided. Earlier, Tata Motors said that it will soon start an assembly plant in South Africa especially for commercial vehicles. In the month of April, the MD of Tata Motors Mr. Kishor A. Chaukar told that it is in the final stage on finalizing to set up Tata Nano manufacturing plant in Africa, Southeast Asia or Latin America.

Mr. Chaukar also told that Tata Motors is in full swing in exploring diverse options at variety of places. Tata Motors already have assembly plants in Bangladesh and Thailand. Previously, Tata Motors had an additional truck facility in South Africa that had been acquired from Nissan. Apart from this, Tata Motors also possess one other bus body building plant in South Africa.
