Tata Nano diesel test mule caught in lenses

Tata Nano, the small car with big dreams from the stables of Tata Motors was recently caught in lenses while going through tests rounds. The camouflaged Tata Nano diesel indicated that the change will be seen in the bumper of the car, while the rear bumper was seen with a slatted design, the front bumper also could be refreshed to offer better aerodynamics. The exhaust is likely to find a new place in Tata Nano diesel. Apparently, Tata has kept hold of the rear engine design of Nano also the market is abuzz with news that Tata Nano diesel might come out with a open-able hatch, like the available hatchbacks in the market.

The changes that are going to be incorporated in Tata Nano diesel are also going to find their way in the petrol trim of this hatchback. The give-away  that Tata Nano is coming with diesel engine was the clatter that the camouflaged car produced which was much different than the babble Tata Nano petrol trim made. Nano diesel production is not likely to happen in the near future in turn indicating that the car will not be rolled out in Indian streets any sooner than 2013.

The diesel variant of Tata Nano is expected to be powered by twin cylinder 700cc DICOR engine (1405 cc four cylinder turbo diesel engine cut half), the engine will make its debut in Tata Ace DICOR although in detuned form. The 700cc DICOR engine produces high power and torque numbers. Bosch is likely to provide the common rail direct injection system for diesel Nano. Tata Motors engineers are aiming for whooping 40kmpl fuel efficiency for the Nano DICOR diesel trim, if this turns true the sales of Nano will go sky high in the soaring fuel prices world.
