Tata Motors' entry level offering Nano, who failed to floor the Indian market as there were some technical issues is all set to be rendered with a diesel heart. Now Tata has changed tactics and plans to launch a diesel trim of Nano, the India auto market is bent on the diesel side and the automotive OEMs want to take full advantage of the situation, hence they are looking forward to roll out diesel models to amplify their market share. Nano diesel test mule has been caught on lenses many times however this time the snapshots taken show a clear view of the rear end of the car.

Tata Nano diesel trim is expected to be powered by a mighty 1000cc diesel engine, which is being developed in collaboration with Bosch. As per the officials of Bosch, the 1000cc engine of Nano diesel will be extremely frugal and will give a mileage of 40kmpl. Not just the engine, Nano diesel trim will also come with some feature changes like, the car has got all new rear bumpers , the exhaust layout is changed and the rear hatch is now openable.

The openable rear hatch feature was not there in Nano petrol variant, which was not liked by the customers. Tata seems to satisfy its customers now by making the hatch openable and that also makes Nano a real car. Tata diesel engine has found its place at the rear end in lieu of that the rear bumper design will be changed. This rear end design change will also take better care of heat dissipation, and give a better cooling. Tata Nano is the lightest car in India and the diesel engine amplifies its lightweight advantage and the already high fuel efficiency goes a notch higher to make Tata Nano the most frugal car in the world.
