Tata Motors India is planning to reposition the country's most affordable car Nano as 'a small city car'. The company will also add some features such as power steering, apart from introducing a CNG version.
Speaking to the shareholders at the 68th annual general meeting, Tata Group Chairman Cyprus P Mistry said, "We are now focusing on increasing the features and the perceived value of the Nano with every subsequent model launch". "We are now focusing on making it a smart city car and targeting the young customers," he added.
The Indian auto industry is going through a very bad phase and to remain stable in the market, Tata Motors India is trying everything like other automakers. "We are coming out with power steering options (on Nano), improved interiors and exteriors and better fuel efficiency," Mistry said.
The company will also launch the recently unveiled CNG variant of the Nano this year. "Tata Motors is committed to improve its customer-centricity, to better understand customer needs and translate them into exciting and appropriate products for our markets." He added.
Tata Motors has recently refreshed the Nano, which is also India's most fuel efficient petrol car. The company previewed the CNG version of the Nano at its Horizonext 2013 called the Tata Nano emax CNG. With Tata Nano CNG, the consumers will also have the option to toggle between the CNG and petrol driving modes.
