The Tata Punch EV seems to be inching closer to its debut, as multiple spy shots of the camouflaged electric SUV have surfaced online. While in most of them the test mule seemed to be a well-equipped variant of the EV, we have now spotted what appears to be its lower variant.
Why We Say So
In the latest images, the two biggest giveaways for us to believe it was a lower-spec variant were the absence of alloy wheels and the free-floating (bigger) touchscreen as noticed in previous images.
That said, it did have the new Nexon-like LED DRLs (which double up as the turn indicators), and a split-headlight setup as well. Earlier spied models have also had rear disc brakes, a redesigned grille, and a new air dam housing.
Cabin And Feature Updates
We did manage to notice the provision of a 2-spoke steering wheel featuring the illuminated Tata logo and paddle shifters (for adjusting the level of battery regeneration).
Other features on board the Punch EV will include automatic climate control, a semi-digital driver’s display, and possibly a 360-degree camera as well. Its safety kit could include up to six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and electronic stability programme (ESP).

Details Of Electric Powertrain
The Punch EV is expected to come with a choice of two battery packs, with Tata saying it will have a claimed range of up to 500 km. There are no details of its electric motor yet, but it would most likely produce power in the range of 75 PS to 100 PS.
When Will It Be Launched?
The Tata Punch EV is expected to be launched in early 2024 with prices likely to start at Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will square off against the Citroen eC3 while also serving as a more spacious alternative to the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV.
