Tata Motors introduced Tata Sumo in the year 1997 and since then it has dominated the MUV segment of the Indian car market. At the same time, Toyota Motors also introduced Toyota Qualis but failed to defeat Tata Sumo Grande. However, Toyota pulled out Toyota Qualis, when its demand was highest and this was then replaced with Toyota Innova. To give a tough fight to Toyota Innova, Tata Sumo Grande was introduced. Now in 2011, rumor has it that Tata Sumo Grande would get a face lift in the coming month of November.

Facelift to Tata Sumo Grande will surely boost up the sales and give Tata Motors more confidence. Currently, Tata Sumo Grande MUV comes with a massive 2.2 litre of DICOR diesel motor, which keeps the capacity to churn out 120 BHP of power. The 5 speed gearbox further enhanced the whole performance of Tata Sumo Grande. Also, Tata Sumo Grande has much better handling power than Mahindra Xylo, which doesn’t deliver a great performance when speed is raised.
