Tesla Model 3 Facelift

  • Gets a new set of sleeker headlamps similar to the ones in the Tesla Roadster.

  • The cabin is now modernised with a new dashboard layout.

  • Comes with the same two powertrain options: 279PS, rear-wheel drive and 315PS, all-wheel drive.

  • Can be brought to India when the carmaker starts its operations in the country.

The Tesla Model 3 is the face of the EV revolution in the West and it has finally got a facelift since its market debut in 2017. This updated electric sedan gets changes in exterior and interior design with the same powertrain options that now promise even more range. Let’s see what the new Model 3 has to offer.

A New Exterior

Tesla Model 3 Facelift Front

The carmaker has made small changes to the design of the Model 3. The front profile now gets a sleeker set of headlamps similar to the Roadster and the separate fog lamps on the bumper are no longer there. The rest of the front profile remains unchanged.

Tesla Model 3 Facelift Rear

The side profile is the same but you do get a few new alloy wheel designs. The size of these wheels ranges from 18 inches to 19 inches. The rear end, on the other hand, gets a few changes. There are new C-shaped tail lamps, which is a single unit unlike the split one in the pre-facelift version, and the design of the bumper has also been revised to feature more creases and even a diffuser.

Upmarket Cabin

Tesla’s cabins have always looked modern and somewhat minimal. This new cabin looks minimal but blends in a bit of premium with its modernity. There is a new steering wheel, tweaked dashboard layout, an LED strip running throughout the cabin, which can be customised as per your liking, and an updated touchscreen display.

This touchscreen is the same size but now has a better responsiveness and the cabin is now more practical with the centre console's added storage. The rear passengers now get added convenience with an 8-inch touchscreen at the end of the central console tunnel for infotainment and climate control. Tesla claims the cabin experience is also more peaceful with acoustic glass all around.

Powertrain

It still comes with the same two powertrain options: a 279PS, single-motor rear-wheel drive and a 315PS, dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain. As of now, the details of the battery packs haven’t been revealed, but the driving ranges are out. The rear-wheel-drive model gets a claimed range of 513km and the all-wheel-drive one gets a range of 629km, both as per WLTP.

Launch

Tesla Model 3 Facelift

The new Tesla Model 3 is available in the European market from today and its deliveries will begin later this year. Tesla also has plans to enter the Indian market soon and it can bring the new Model 3 here as well. If launched here, it will go up against the BMW i4.
