The all new Hyundai Verna was recently showcased at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition held in 2010 and it is speculated that the vehicle might hit Indian roads by 2011-12. The model would be pitched against Honda City, Maruti Suzuki SX4, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea, upcoming VW Vento and Nissan’s Micra-based sedan in the C-segment of cars in India and would be priced in the range of 7-9 lakhs.
New Hyundai Verna would first be released for the Chinese Market and would be manufactured at the automated Beijing plant from July. Although the company officials are tight lipped on heir latest launches as per the company policy but the news has been speculated by the industry sources.
The Hyundai Verna that is launched for the Chinese market sports a great aerodynamic look with sloping roof line and new low-floor platform. For greater safety and accident protection the body has been prepared with Special ultra-high tensile strength steel. With safety features like these, Verna qualifies the CNCAP 5 rating and provides the best protection in its class. Due to the rigid body prepared with special steel, the suspension is more strongly anchored to the car leading to vibration-less and noiseless performance.
Verna has got a low height and a long wheelbase that provides extra stability and makes the looks stylish. The trunk/boot space is marvelous with a capacity of 454L. There would be some changes done to the car to fit the Indian road conditions, but there have been no information on that front.
The Verna launched in the Chinese market has a complete all-Aluminium construction that has made it light weighed. The 1.6L DOHC Gamma would deliver 90.4Kw@6300rpm and 155Nm of peak torque @ 4200rpm through a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission. These amazing performance have been achieved by including a Continuously Variable Valve Timing.
