Are you sick and tired of not being able to pair your iPhone to your android compatible infotainment system? Or for that matter not being able to pair your Android device to Apple Carplay system? Then, worry no more. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has revealed an updated version of its Uconnect infotainment system for 2016. The system was unveiled at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is being held in Las Vegas.

This is the fourth generation of Uconnect and has been updated to deliver improved resolution and responsiveness. Uconnect supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which can be seen in Maruti’s latest premium hatchback Baleno. The system also features enhanced performance, courtesy of an improved touch response, relatively shorter startup time, faster processing capability and increased brightness.

iPhone users can use Uconnect to work Apple’s Siri voice controls  and the same facility is offered for the “Ok Google” and Google voice search applications in Android devices. Commenting on Uconnect, Joni Christensen, head of Uconnect marketing for FCA said "The Uconnect team is evolving Uconnect and making it even better.” He further added that ” With the launch of the fourth generation of Uconnect systems, we are continuing to minimize the everyday stresses of busy lifestyles by providing drivers with a variety of ways to stay conveniently connected to their vehicles, while making every drive exceptionally informative, entertaining and unique."

The system was displayed in a Dodge Charger pursuit police car and the 12.1-inch infotainment system is expected to be introduced in FCA’s other production models.

There is a faint possibility that Uconnect will make its way to India via the upcoming Jeep models, which include Grand Cherokee and the 450bhp monster that is Grand Cherokee SRT. Fiat’s Tipo, if and when launched in India will also entertain the same possibility.
