In a very short interval of time, India has drifted its way into the performance car segment. With the introduction of new models from AMG, Abarth and BMW M, it's quite clear that the auto-giants of the world now see India as a potential market for high performance machines. And while talking about these rubber burning, flame throwing, high BHP machines, BMW M division has a class of its own. And with their latest addition, the M2, BMW has managed to make this madness available at an entry level, keeping in mind that not everyone is Ken block or Travis Pastrana. Here are the top three reasons why BMW should consider bringing the M2 in India.
1. The Entry Level Performance Machine If launched in India, the car will cost around 75 - 80 lac. Although this is costlier than the AMGs, M2 has a better chance of capturing the market because of its performance oriented dynamics. The car produces 370 hp from a 3.0-litre engine, courtesy of the M TwinPower Turbo technology. The car also has 465 Nm, which can be further increased to 500 Nm in short bursts under overboost. All this, coupled with the optional 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission and Launch Control results in a standstill to 100 time of 4.3 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. These are pure performance oriented figured but at the same time are not ludicrously fast and can be tamed by an average driver. It's one of the best machines to introduce your driving skills on the hardcaore performace platform.
2. Rightful Challenger To Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class 45 AMG If launched in India, The car will rival the German’s CLA-Class 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG which currently stands unchallenged in their class. The Bimmer has 10 extra horses when compared to the AMGs and is 2 door speedster which results in better driving dynamics. M2 is 0.3 seconds faster to the 100 mark then the AMG which does not create a huge difference in terms of performance but, is surely another feather in the M division’s cap.
3. To Increase The Foothold of M Brand in India With AMG flooding the Indian market with models and also Abarth looking to attract the petrolheads of our country, BMW has to introduce the M2 to challenge the other brands and further add to its list of models in the Country.
